Where Are You?

Scripture Reading
"And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, 'Where are you?' And he said, 'I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.'"

Reflection
When did the breakdown happen? When did humanity stop hearing God's voice? When did listening to God's voice become so difficult?

In Genesis 3, we find a heartbreaking moment. Adam and Eve, who once walked freely with God, now find themselves hiding. Why? Because sin had entered the picture, distorting their relationship with the Creator. They could no longer face Him as they once did.

God, however, didn’t remain distant. He sought them out, asking the profound question: “Where are you?”

A Personal Question
This question wasn’t about location; God already knew where Adam was. Instead, it was about relationship. It was about accountability. It was a call to self-reflection.

Where are you today? Are you hiding from God? Maybe guilt or fear keeps you from running to Him. Perhaps, like Adam, you’ve heard His voice but feel too ashamed to respond.

A Loving Pursuit
The beauty of this passage is God’s heart. Even when humanity turned away, God sought them out. His voice wasn’t one of condemnation but of love and restoration. He longs to meet us, even in our brokenness.

Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for always pursuing us, even when we stray. Help me to hear Your voice and respond, no matter what I’m facing. Let Your love draw me out of hiding and back into Your presence. Amen.

Challenge for Today
Take a moment to be honest with God about where you are spiritually. He’s not asking to shame you but to restore you. Listen for His voice, and let Him guide you back to Him.
